Laura Engleby is a Senior Advisor at The Water Institute, specializing in marine mammal science and policy. Her work encompasses program management, project coordination, and policy assessment, supporting the integration of scientific research into effective management and decision-making frameworks. At The Water Institute, Laura provides technical expertise on projects involving marine mammals and contributes to drafting scientific and policy documents related to marine mammal considerations.
Laura earned her B.S. in Geology from Radford University and completed the Environmental Studies Graduate Program at Florida International University. She is currently pursuing an M.S. in Marine Mammal Science at New College of Florida. Over the course of her career with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Laura has received numerous accolades, including the NOAA Administrator Award in 2020 for developing an innovative plan to restore trust resources for marine mammals injured by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and for her contributions to advancing restoration science.
