Kacie Wright, Marketing and Communications Coordinator, brings over a decade of experience translating complex environmental science into accessible, engaging content for public audiences. With a strong background in scientific research and analysis, she has a proven track record of fostering community involvement in scientific initiatives and coordinating large-scale restoration projects in collaboration with partner organizations and volunteers.
Kacie holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Environmental Studies from Eckerd College and earned her master’s in Sustainable Peacebuilding from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Her academic work focuses on all perspectives of water resource management, including a recent project that maps Louisiana’s coastal land loss crisis. During her graduate studies, she conducted ecotourism and community-based environmental sustainability research in Costa Rica. The following summer, Kacie led grant-funded risk assessment work in Ecuador, producing feasibility plans for local responses to a potential eruption of the Cotopaxi Volcano.
Since completing her studies, Kacie has worked at the intersection of society and the environment, promoting science-based decision-making and community resilience across multiple organizations. Her ability to conduct investigative research, produce professional visual communications, and bridge the gap between scientists and the communities they serve makes her a vital asset to the Water Institute’s communications team.
