Water Institute will help develop Virginia’s coastal master plan

Mar 29, 2021

Baton Rouge’s Water Institute of the Gulf has landed a contract with the Commonwealth of Virginia to develop the state’s first coastal resilience master plan.

The Water Institute will work with Virginia-based design and construction firm Dewberry and other state partners on the project, the state announced today.

Dale Morris, director of strategic partnerships at The Water Institute, says every coastal state is facing similar challenges, and Virginia’s coastal master planning process will “be a model for others to follow.”

The Water Institute will help develop coastal resilience strategies, support the state’s Technical Advisory Committee and subcommittees with plan development, assist with adaptation project prioritization and stakeholder outreach, and provide quality review for master plan modeling.
