Science for Vulnerable Communities

With decades of expertise within the coastal zone of Louisiana and the northern Gulf Coast, the Water Institute team sees numerous ways in which our applied intradisciplinary approach could be used to develop tools and resources for vulnerable communities currently lacking resources or representation to pursue this needed work on their own.

In order to better support our vulnerable and underserved coastal communities, the Institute is launching a fundraising campaign “Science for Vulnerable Communities” to proactively respond to the needs of minority, or underserved populations. This campaign will allow the Water Institute to bring critical science, planning, and engineering support to communities most at risk from changing environmental conditions.

Presently, the Water Institute is built upon a fee-for-service model. And while we are proud of the work that we do for our partners who have the ability to pay for our services, we cannot ignore communities that have the same needs, but fewer resources.
