Ovel Díaz García

Ovel Díaz García is a researcher at The Water Institute of the Gulf. His research includes the use of numerical models to simulate environmental processes, like atmospherics (WRF), hydrodynamics (MARS3D), storm surges (ADCIRC, FVCOM), waves (SWAN), and oil spills (GNOME). His skills include the application of numerical models, programming in FORTRAN, MATLAB, Pascal, Python, PHP, and the use of visualization and data processing tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo, NCL, and Ferret. He is an expert Linux and HPC user, with scripting and automation process experience. Ovel Díaz was a postdoctoral researcher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where his research investigated storm surge floods in the southern Gulf of Mexico using numerical models.
