NWF Barataria Salinity Project
The Challenge
Understanding the historical temporal and spatial patterns of salinity in the Barataria Basin is important not only to better understand and manage the operations of existing diversions, such as Davis Pond, but also for gaining an understanding of how this diversion may interact with other proposed diversions in the future.
The Approach
The Water Institute of the Gulf was tasked with gathering and analyzing historical salinity data in the Barataria Basin and with conducting several modeling analyses. The outcome of this project helps further the understanding of the salinity temporal and spatial patterns in the Barataria Basin, especially with regard to the management and operations of existing and proposed diversions.
